統一獅去年補進「小小郭」郭泓志這名超級新人，小小郭將扛起「守護神」的重任，他的表現，將是獅隊的戰績指標，也將是本季中華職棒的一大焦點。

獅隊去年拿到總冠軍，但陣中缺本土的先發左投，總教練陳連宏看上林家瑋，因此用蔡璟豪交易林家瑋，希望林家瑋可以扛起這個重任。鑼總指出「當初會交易林家瑋，就是要他來擔任先發投手」，獅隊陣中本土投手雖多，但就是沒有適合先發的左投，去年季中選秀選進的左投江辰晏，年紀還小，上半季會先讓他在二軍磨練，下半季視狀況再決定是否讓他上一軍。

鑼總表示「除了2名先發洋投，我們陣中本土先發還有潘威倫、羅錦龍、王鏡銘、廖文揚等人，都是右投，所以需要一名本土的先發左投」，另外費古洛、邦勝可望回鍋，獅隊還要找一名先發左投，牛棚則有高建三、傅于剛、林岳平、郭泓志等人，戰力堅強。

獅隊的內野陣容變化不大，鑼總擔心陳鏞基的腳傷，因此本季有可能讓陳鏞基守三壘，讓他可以更專注於打擊。鑼總的考慮主要是陳鏞基腳仍有舊傷，若長期守游擊，擔心會帶給他太大的負擔，而影響到他的打擊表現，因此才會考慮讓陳鏞基移防三壘。
